Halee Brewer

Many Texas State seniors are already preparing for graduation in May. Bobcat Update’s Halee Brewer has the story.

Although the semester began just last week, some students are already trying on their caps and gowns. For graduating seniors, this is their last semester to make good grades and perhaps intern. Texas State senior Chandler Watson says he is focused on the future.
SB
Some students admit that they’re not ready to take the next step. Texas State senior Karagan Mayberry says she needs more time to prepare.
SB
Students can apply for graduation today on CatsWeb. The deadline for applying is March 9th. For Bobcat Update, I’m Halee Brewer.

Clifton Winston

The Wittliff Collections has added a new exhibit on the seventh floor of the Alkek Library. Bobcat Update's Clifton Winston has more.

Sunrise Sunset: Solargraphs is the newest edition to the Wittliff Collections. The 50-plus solargraphs were created by Bill Wittliff. The exhibit features ordinary things, like tallboy beer cans or small sections of P-V-C pipe, to show sunlight's effect in a unique way.
SB
On the other hand, some students feel like the expansion will cause more congestion at the library. SB
Sunrise Sunset: Solargraphs will be in the Wittliff Collection until July 8th.  Renovations for the Wittliff expansion have not begun. For Bobcat Update, I'm Clifton Winston.

Mary Diegel

Enrollment at Texas State increased this spring and is causing overcrowding on campus. Bobcat  Update's Mary Diegel has more.

Students are having to adjust their schedules to make more time for daily activities. Part of the reason is the construction on campus, which can cause delays. Unsure they will make it to class on time, students are having to leave earlier to commute to campus. Texas State student Sara Lang says she has noticed a difference in her bus schedule compared to last year.
SB
Buses are not the only factor affecting students' schedules. There also seem to be longer lines at the food courts in the L-B-J Student Center.
SB
Texas  State is the fifth largest university in Texas and is expected to grow. For Bobcat Update, I'm Mary Diegel.

Kristen Flowers

Many Texas State students are coping with longer commutes because of construction in San Marcos. Bobcat Update's Kristen Flowers has the story.

Many construction projects -- on and off campus -- are underway. They include the overpass at Aquarena Springs next to the football stadium and a new  engineering building across the street from McCoy Hall. Because of these projects, some students, like Brianna Zemelicka, have noticed a change in their commutes this semester.
SB
But other students say they're not bothered by the detours.
SB
The City of San Marcos website states that all major projects are expected to be finished by next winter, and the Texas State University Construction web page shows four projects are underway now and at least fifteen more are in the works. It looks like detours may be required for a little longer. For Bobcat Update, I'm Kristen Flowers.

Aaron Derton

Construction at Texas State has forced some buses to change their routes. Bobcat Update's Aaron Derton has the story.

Construction near the L-B-J bus loop is completed, but buses that would normally stop there are still being diverted. The bus to Wonder World Drive has moved from the L-B-J loop to just outside the Towers parking garage. Texas State student  John Gonzalez says the round trip from Wonder World to L-B-J was faster than the new route.
SB
Senior Talia Johnson-Watkins says the new bus stop is farther away from her classes than before.
SB
The website for the City of San Marcos doesn't list any of the roads around the L-B-J bus loop as under construction. Only Woods Street, which connects Comanche and North street, is being worked on. That construction is slated to end in  August. For Bobcat Update, I'm Aaron Derton.

Treavian Simmons

San Marcos has had intense winds and freezing temperatures the past few days. Bobcat Update's Treavian Simmons has a report.

The spring 2018 semester is off to a chilly start, as cold winds and low temperatures have left the campus frigid. Texas State senior Greg Arellano offers a tip for staying as warm as possible.
SB
Fellow senior Catherine Claunch says venturing out may be unavoidable, so she goes leaves home prepared.
SB
Some students enjoy the lower temperatures.
SB
More moderate temperatures are supposed to return this weekend when highs will reach 70. For Bobcat Update, I'm Treavian Simmons.
