Pioneer Bank in San Marcos has created a donation fund that will sponsor a local student-athlete who has hopes of some day playing for Texas State University. In making the announcement, Pioneer said its goal is to give back to the community by helping talented athletes -- who live in Hays County -- attend Texas State. The bank, based in San Marcos, said it plans to donate 25-thousand dollars over a four-year period.
