Many Latin American countries, such as Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, are celebrating the birth of their nations this month. Texas State is also celebrating its Hispanic culture. Students at the university represent a wide variety of ethnicities. According to Institutional Research, 55 percent of the student population is white, 30 percent are Hispanic, eight percent are African American and four percent identify themselves as multi-racial. Texas State is proud to be classified as a Hispanic-serving institution. The group's enrollment increased more than a thousand students from a year ago.
